Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE)

Tobacco Use Prevention Education Program
People Reaching Out’s staff work with teachers at three high schools and two middle schools in the Woodland Joint Unified School District implementing science based prevention education programs. Classroom lessons are supplemented with youth led presentations. Tobacco cessation groups are offered at the three high schools as well as individual counseling and referral. Students caught smoking on campus are referred to cessation groups as an alternative to suspension. Students may also self refer or are referred through law enforcement when cited for tobacco use. Youth development is a key prevention strategy. PRO staff train and work with youth leaders in planning school wide tobacco awareness activities in collaboration with Student Government and community resources.

Counseling Services
Counselors are available on seven Woodland Joint Unified School District campuses providing free group and individual counseling for students and their families.

Adult to Youth Mentoring

Family Strengthening Classes
These Courses are for youth and their families to acquire the skills to avoid alcohol and drugs and how to communicate effectively with each other.
