Middle Grade Community Day School (MGCDS)

Mission Statement

The mission of our school is to keep students in the public education system during periods when they experience difficulties that could lead to dropping out of school. The academic program is tailored to individual needs and intended to provide the foundation for educational success.

What is Middle Grade Community Day School?

The Middle Grade Community Day School offers all subjects that are State requirements for seventh and eighth grades and offers these subjects at various ability levels. This approach allows the teacher and students to focus on specific areas at the student's own pace and at a level in which the student can succeed.

Classroom instruction is designed for those who need the structure of a traditional classroom setting, and who will be able to attend daily.

Daily attendance, academic progress and appropriate behavior is required of students in the classroom setting. Students are required to bring their lunch since this is a closed campus.

Introduction

The Middle Grade Community Day School is open on a traditional school calendar operated by the Woodland Joint Unified School District. This school works closely with other school districts, the probation department, and the courts of Yolo County. The program takes an individual approach to helping students by encouraging their academic, personal, and social growth. The program serves students in grades 7 and 8, and enrollment into the transfer back to their home school may take place at any time during the year.
