About the Independent Learning Center


Advantages

  • flexible schedule
  • may work at accelerated pace
  • limited peer interaction & school activities
  • one-on-one student-teacher interaction
  • student input in course selection
  • possible to enroll at WCC concurrently

Disadvantages

  • a minimum of 30 hours of independent study each week is difficult,
  • requiring self-discipline and good study skills
  • limited peer interaction & school activities
  • increased amount of reading and written work
  • year-round program (summer attendance required for students behind in credits)

Requirements

Enrolled students must comply with the following requirements to successfully matriculate:

  • complete a minimum of 30 hours of independent study weekly
  • attend a weekly appointment with the assigned teacher at ILC
  • complete all required coursework as specified in course contract with a score of 70% or better
  • be on a track to earn 60 credits a year
