With its newly adopted goals, The WJUSD is embarking upon a journey with “Excellence for All” as its destination. During the next several years, the District will be involved in significantly raising expectations for all of our students, and coupling theses standards with the necessary support for excellent achievement. Starting with high school as the first reform effort, the emphasis will be on a combination of high academic standards and career preparation. This reform movement is designed to enable students to choose their own future, be it the world of work, public or national service, or trade technical training or traditional college. By bringing relevant education with high academic standards to our students, we are ensuring their readiness for a world in which they will be expected to change careers and/or different positions within a general career area at least ten times. Creativity, flexibility, problem solving, and the ability to work independently as well as in teams will be fostered while high academic standards are implemented.

Our children deserve no less—an excellent education and career preparation for an increasingly complex, fast paced world where the only constant is change! WJUSD invites and encourages all our community’s business people, the ones who will benefit from this reform movement, to become involved. We want your opinions, your concerns and your support.
